An Emmy® for Transforming Performance
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences have honored technology developed by DisneyResearch|Studios with a Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award for AI-Based Face Replacement and Performance-Preserving Post-Production Transformation.
Preserving the integrity of a performer’s original work while making post-production visual adjustments is a difficult technical challenge, one that traditionally requires extensive manual effort. DisneyResearch|Studios developed facial transformation technology designed to maintain the nuances of the original performance, including expressions, movement, lighting, and other details, while supporting consistency across changing poses, lighting, and environments.
Congratulations to Jacek Naruniec, Romann Weber, Chris Schroers, and Joan Massich, the core team whose research, engineering, and creativity made this achievement possible.
